Upload wizard

  1. Click Upload assets.
  2. Select Upload wizard and click Continue.

Click Next to move to the next step, and Back to return to the previous step.

Step 1: Select files

Drop the files you want to upload, or click the upload area to browse for files. Click Next.

Step 2: Manage

In the Manage step, you rename files, assign folders, and add descriptions and tags.

The left side lists your files. Select the files you want to edit. Select the checkbox at the top of the list to select all files.

Edit one file

When you select one file, you can edit all of its details:

FieldDescription
NameThe name of the asset.
Alt textA description of the image for screen readers. Optional.
FolderThe folder the asset is placed in. Click New to create a folder. Optional.
ChannelsThe channels the asset is used in. Optional.
DescriptionA description of the asset. Optional.
TagsTags used to group and find assets. Optional.

Edit several files at once

When you select several files, the changes apply to all of them. You can set Folder, Channels, and Tags for the selected files. Click Deselect all to clear your selection.

Remove files from the upload

To remove files from the upload, select them and click Remove files from upload. You can also click the trash icon on a single file. This only removes the files from the upload — nothing is deleted from your computer.

Select Automatically link assets to products to link assets to products when you upload them. Geins matches an article number or product ID at the start of the filename.

For example, the file 110036_monstera.jpg is linked to the product with article number or product ID 110036.

Name your files with the article number or product ID first, followed by an underscore, for example XXXX_filename.jpg. Then you can link many images to the right products in one upload.

Click Next when you are done.

Step 3: Review & upload

Check that everything looks right before you upload. The list shows each file with its name, folder, size, and type.

Use the grouping options to review your files:

OptionDescription
No groupingShows all files in one list.
Group by folderGroups the files by the folder they are placed in.
Group by productGroups the files by the product they are linked to. Files that do not match a product are shown under No match.
When you group by product, the list shows how many files matched a product and how many did not, for example 2 matched · 3 unmatched.

When everything looks right, click Upload.

After you upload, you can open an asset to edit its details at any time. See Manage asset details.
