Inventory

Inventory

Always‑accurate stock with clear rules for oversell and backorders

What it does and who it's for

Geins inventory is designed for operations and warehouse teams, merchandisers, and developers integrating ERP/WMS who need clear, predictable availability across channels and markets.

Inventory is modeled at the SKU level with three stock modes: in stock (physical), oversellable (supplier/virtual), and static (always available with per‑order limits) so you can match real‑world supply and sales policies.

Backorders allocate automatically and item states stay explicit, with every change captured in a transaction log. When fulfillment completes, reservations are captured and physical stock is deducted, keeping availability honest and consistent wherever your catalog appears.

What you can build

With SKU level inventory and flexible stock modes, you can power clear PDP availability (including incoming dates and backorder states), trigger back‑in‑stock notifications per SKU, and give operations precise tools for adjustments with reasons. Allocation views make oversellable and static items transparent, while returns workflows can restock inventory according to policy—speeding resale without surprises.

PDP availability & incoming dates
Show accurate in‑stock, backorder, and expected‑in dates directly on PDPs and listings.
Back‑in‑stock notifications
Notify customers per SKU when items return to stock or become available for backorder.
Operations stock tools
Adjust stock with transaction reasons for a complete audit trail and accountability.
Allocation views
Track allocations for oversellable and static items to align supply with demand.
Returns & restocking flows
Decide when and how returns restock, based on condition and policy.

How it works in Geins

Inventory attaches to products via SKUs, where stock and locations are managed. As orders move through fulfillment, captures trigger and reserved stock is deducted from physical inventory. Backorder states remain explicit and partial fulfillment is supported. Returns can restock items based on condition and policy—so availability tracks reality without manual reconciliation.

SKU level stock & locations
Manage inventory per SKU with optional shelf/location details.
Fulfillment driven deductions
Deduct physical stock on capture so reservations and reality always match.
Explicit backorder states
Keep customers and teams aligned with clear backorder and partial‑fulfillment states.
Returns that restock (when allowed)
Restock items based on condition and policy.

Integrations

ERP and WMS connections handle stock sync and purchase orders, while merchant APIs and webhooks push real‑time updates so storefronts, marketplaces, and operations stay in lockstep.

  • ERP/WMS for stock sync and purchase orders
  • Merchant/Management APIs and webhooks for updates

Real‑world outcomes

Teams see fewer oversell incidents and cancellations, because availability reflects real stock and backorder rules. Customers get clearer expectations with accurate PDP messaging, while operations close the loop on returns faster—putting goods back on sale sooner and reducing waste.

Fewer oversells
Reduce cancellations with clear stock modes and fulfillment‑driven deductions.
Clearer expectations
Set accurate customer expectations with explicit backorder and incoming dates.
Faster resale of returns
Restock returned items quickly when policy allows to get inventory back online.
